Artists from different parts of the world, performers of different musical genres, have joined forces so that we can listen to this extraordinary record and stop for a moment amidst our everyday rush. Every piece is a veritable feast for the lovers of perfect sound, the handiwork of Marcin Pospieszalski, the record’s producer.
“The future of humankind and its communities depends on these ten simple words. The future of the nation, the state, Europe and the world.”
Twenty-six years after Saint John Paul II spoke these words, we are happy to present the Dekalog, a musical project meant to recall the values contained in the Ten Commandments.
Every piece has a completely different flavour, from the longing operatic O Dio Ti Cerco performed by Andrzej Lampert; through the worshipful Holy, where Paddy Kelly gracefully leads us through the green meadows of Ireland; the hard rocking Seventh by Luxtorpeda; the swinging Jamaican In My Father’s House by Maleo Reggae Rockers; the southern Zambian sounds of Aikon Levi Sakala to the feel of the suburbs of New York by the hip-hop 8 of Father Stan Fortuna.
Although so different, each of the numbers has a common purpose: to help us fathom the values contained in the Decalogue. Every piece is a spiritual reflection on one of the Ten Commandments. Each of them shows how in the modern world, so seemingly different from that where Moses brought down the two stone tablets from Mount Sinai, these ten simple words still resound with a mighty force. How these ten simple words should lead us every day in everything we do.
Additionally, the Dekalog project, the brainchild of Radek Grabowski, aims to support concrete measures in terms of humanitarian and pastoral aid. Each piece is a “patron” of one of the projects of the Aid to the Church in Need organisation. By buying this CD or a ticket to its promotional concert you support such contributions as the purchase of food for families in Aleppo and rebuilding houses in Damascus, Syria; aiding sexually abused girls in Livingstone, Zambia; building wells in Sudan and many other aid projects.
